the XJ's six-speed automatic transmission, and all models have a
5.0-liter AJ-V8 engine. Horsepower ratings vary by model: The standard
XJ and XJL vehicles offer 385 horsepower, the Supercharged models carry
470 horsepower, and the Supersport vehicles feature an incredible 510
horsepower rating. All models come with the Adaptive Dynamics
air-suspension system to ensure superior riding
comfort. Safety features remain unchanged and include
antilock brakes, stability and traction control, an antiskid system, an
emergency fuel-shutoff device, side airbags in front, and full-length,
side-curtain airbags. Supersport models, available only by special
order, feature Adaptive Cruise Control, which employs microwave radar
technology to assist in avoiding potential
hazards. Innovative interior design raises
the Jaguar XJ to true luxury status. Leather seating and voice-activated
navigation are standard. A high-definition instrument panel joins a
dual-view touchscreen, which will allow the front passenger to watch
DVDs while the driver receives navigation information and manages other
vehicle and technology features. Zoned climate control with four
separate zones is standard, although the basic XJ model only has two
zone controls. Additional 2012 XJ media
features include Bluetooth capability, an iPod docking station, a hard
drive for storing audio files, and a 1200W Bowers & Wilkins
high-end stereo system. One recent report states that Jaguar is adding a
feature for smartphone docking, which will project the phone's contents
onto the dual-view touchscreen. Users will be able to access most phone
features, although Internet browsing is not possible. This addition
will also allow seamless GPS access, employing the smartphone both while
driving and after leaving the
car. |
